LG already announced it would be releasing the Android 7.0 Nougat update for their 2015 flagship, but one of the largest carriers just announced it may not be. Back in early March, LG confirmed the G4 would get updated to Nougat which made numerous users happy as it was originally launched with Lollipop running 5.1.1.
The original announcement from LG was no surprise, but today, AT&T surprised us all as an executive publicly stated there are no plans to launch Nougat for the LG G4. This isn’t exactly say that it won’t become available for AT&T users, but as of now, it doesn’t sound like it will be.
The Android 7.0 Nougat LG G4 Update will arrive in Q3 of 2017, sometime between July and September so there’s still plenty of time for AT&T to change their stance. Those on Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile should see the update just as planned, but no official release date has been made official.
Most believe AT&T users will still see Nougat on the LG G4 as updates are typically rolled out for three generations of flagships. This has been typical for other handsets including LG models, and the popularity of the G4 suggests we’ll see Android 7.0 rolled out from all major carriers.
If you’re an AT&T user rocking a LG G4, tell us your thoughts below and we’ll make sure AT&T gets the hint.
