Google’s one of the best tech manufacturers with transparent communication as they always seem to tell consumers, well, everything. The latest news was just shared giving those rocking a Google Pixel or Google Pixel XL some piece of mind when it comes to this year’s Android O update and next year’s Android P update.
Google just posted on their end-of-life support page when they would stop updating both the Pixel and Pixel XL, and it appears updates will go through October 2018. This means that both handsets should see the Android O operating system which should be made available on Google phones during the summer of this year and Android P during the summer of 2018.
Both handsets will continue to get security updates through October 2019 which is when Google’s updates typically end. Two smartphones including the Nexus 5x and Nexus 6P are about the end of their life with Android updates which will end September of this year with security updates ending September 2018.
The Nexus 9 tablet and Nexus 6 smartphone will be reaching the end of their life with Google updates all-together September of this year. Google’s pretty consistent which makes it easy for consumers looking for future Android and security updates on smartphones and tablets.
