Over the past couple of months, we’ve heard numerous reports the next flagship from HTC will likely be called the HTC U or HTC Ocean, but new rumors suggest otherwise. We’ve just received word the next installment in the U series will be called the HTC U 11 which will offer similar branding to both the U and Ocean.
The latest rumors come as no surprise as HTC has already announced the official unveiling of their next flagship scheduled for May 16th. The HTC U 11 moniker makes a lot of sense as HTC wants consumers to know the upcoming launch will be the follow-up to last year’s HTC 10.
The U series debuted earlier this year in the form of the HTC U Ultra. The series itself we already know will be expanded on, and with the HTC U 11 combining elements of both flaghships the latest rumors come as no surprise.
We’ve been hearing the HTC U 11 specs will include the next generation chipset from Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 835 has already seen its way to the Galaxy S8 and Xiaomi Mi6 which are two of the most anticipated handsets this year.
Other specs which are rumored include 4GB RAM, 5.5-inch display, 12-MP secondary, 16-MP primary camera, and unique sensors embedded into the frame of the phone itself. The sensors are believed to provide touch controls which will replace touching the screen itself which HTC has already called Edge Sense.
We’ll keep you updated on the next coming in the HTC U series and the latest rumors on the HTC U11. We’ll know for sure May 16th, so be sure to subscribe to get the latest as soon as we get it.
