If you are one of the few who thought the Galaxy S Edge concept was one and done, then you’ve got another thing coming. New rumors have materialized suggesting both the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and Galaxy S7 will launch at the same time in 2016. Both GS7 models will be the first Samsung flagships to launch in 2016 which will be the first of some very good handsets to debut.
The latest Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge rumors suggest we’ll see the 2nd gen model as it’s likely to have replaced the original Galaxy Note Edge debut the unique concept. Since launching, the Edge variant has become almost as popular as the standard model while it’s appealed to those looking for something truly unique.
The GS7 Edge is said to feature a 5.2” Super Amoled QHD display, but there’s still hope for a true 4K display. The idea of a 4K resolution smartphone first debuted in Sony’s Xperia Z5 and is believed to be featured in many upcoming handsets.
Other specs expected include either a Samsung Exynos 8890 processor or Qualcomm 820 SoC depending on which market you’re in. Also, we’ll likely see a 20MP rear camera, 9MP front camera, 4GB RAM, and a larger 3400 mAh battery.
Probably the most intriguing rumor relates to the release date of both GS7 models. The new word is that we’ll likely see both models earlier than expected due to changes in production for Samsung handsets which will help move up the launch date to February or March.
This could mean we’ll see the official unveiling at CES during the 2nd week in January instead of MWC at the beginning of March. If the above holds true, we could see the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge release date as early as the end of February in the US, UK, China, South Korea, Canada, and March for other markets including India.
