Sammy has already announced the next coming in the Samsung Gear series as all eyes are patiently waiting for the official release date. The unveiling of both the Samsung Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic is creating quite a stir for Android enthusiasts, and new rumors suggest we won’t have to wait much longer.
New rumors on the Samsung Gear S2 release date suggest a mid-September launch in markets worldwide as both the S2 and S2 Classic are believed to be available the same day. Consumers will be happy to know that pairing the new Gear S2 with a Samsung smartphone will be a thing of the past. The previous model only supported Bluetooth tethering with a supported Samsung smartphone, but the new 3G model will support any Android smartphone running 4.4 or higher, and in time will also support IOS smartphones.
The 3G model will have a built in e-SIM support which will allow independent functioning. Even better, Sammy is hoping the new e-SIM feature will bring in more consumers who can now own a different manufactured smartphone other than a Samsung model.
All models of the Gear S2 feature a 1.2” Super Amoled display with a resolution of 360 x 360, 512 MB RAM, and 4GB internal memory. Connectivity won’t be a problem with Wi-fi and Bluetooth 4.1 and the 3G model will offer stand-alone use. You can expect up to three full days of battery use between charges along with both waterproof and dustproof features.
There’s no official word on the price, but you can expect the Samsung Gear S2 3G model to come in around $350 while the standard and Classic are expected to set you back about $300.
