Since Xiaomi entered the market some four years ago, they have helped completely change the idea of smartphones. The market was once dominated by the most expensive handsets which signified the highest-end devices, but now, it’s not all about the most expensive. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 is more of the same for the Chinese start-up had hopes of once again launching a high quality handset with budget in mind.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 launch proved this once again as the new handset that debuted just one month ago has helped the Chinese manufacturer sell more than 1.5 million strong. Launching in China just over a moth, the Redmi Note 2 has set a new record for smartphone sales in such a short period of time.
The initial launch broke all sorts of records selling a total of 800,000 handsets in its first 12 hours of going on sale. With a price that starts under $160 which equals to just under 1000 Yen.
Not bad considering the Redmi Note 2 sports an impressive lineup of specs which include a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 5.5” display, 2GB RAM, 300 mAh battery, LTE dual SIM connectivity, and comes in two different models offering a 16 and 32GB memory option.
Those in China can pick up the 16GB Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 for only 799 Chinese Yen and 999 for the 32GB model.
